Booms, Busts, Battlestar Galactica is getting an NBA facelift prettier than the episode-to-episode changes on WandaVision.
For this version, we want to focus on booms that are widely available on the waiver wire so we can give you a leg up on the competition and busts you may want to consider getting rid of. All is fair in love and fantasy.
Let's get started with a look back at the last week of the NBA fantasy season.
Booms
Daniel Theis, Center, Boston Celtics
Since Kemba Walker's return against the Knicks on January 17, Theis is averaging 13.5 points on an incredible 79.2 percent shooting from the field with 6.3 rebounds and one made three-pointer a game.
When paired with Walker, Theis nets +14.8 points per 100 possessions on the strength of the pick and roll they run together. Only 46 percent of teams on Yahoo have the big German on their roster, but with his PnR partner back, that number should increase in the coming weeks.
Kendrick Nunn, Guard, Miami Heat
With Tyler Herro nursing a neck injury, and Avery Bradley and Jimmy Butler in the health and safety COVID protocol, someone needed to step up like Neville Longbottom against Voldemort. Kendrick Nunn has been that dude.

The start of the 2020-2021 NBA regular season is less than a week away, and if you're like us then your fantasy basketball draft is coming up.
Next week is going to be an exciting one. Not only do we get Christmas, but we get the return of the NBA after a very short offseason. That means you only have a few days to prepare for your fantasy basketball draft, and we know you're already busy wrapping gifts and baking cookies.
The NBA has already given us an early present by giving us a great slate of games on Christmas Day, including Zion v. Jimmy, Steph v. Giannis, and Luka v. LeBron.
Now let FindBet give you an early Christmas gift, as this article should help you prep for your draft by giving you some targets in the mid-to-late rounds that we think will provide upside and consistency throughout the fantasy season.
Here are five of our top sleeper picks for fantasy basketball this year. We present to you: A Fantasy Basketball Carol.
Ghost of Fantasy Past
John Wall Houston Rockets PG
It's easy to forget the past, and if you asked me about most anything from two years ago I would have trouble recalling much. Well it's nearly been that long since we last saw John Wall play a regular season game in the NBA. However, Wall hasn't been forgotten during his absence due to multiple injuries.
Wall has been referred to quite often while rehabbing from a torn Achilles under one of the worst contracts in the NBA that he signed while still a member of the Washington Wizards. Now with the Rockets, Wall has been looking great in preseason actions so far.
John Wall has impressive debut with Houston Rockets | NBA Preseason Highlights www.youtube.com
While some of the explosiveness may be gone, Wall looks quick, and his shooting seems to be improved since the last time we saw him play, which continues a trend we saw prior to his injury. A perennial threat to go for 20 points and 10 assists while adding steals and three pointers, Wall is being severely overlooked in fantasy drafts right now.
With the trade rumors swirling around James Harden, Wall could end up being THE guy in Houston if Harden is traded. Even if Harden stays, the ceiling for Wall is high considering his skill set compliments Harden as an off-ball player, too. If you load up on big men early in your draft, don't sleep on John Wall.
Ghosts of Fantasy Present
Montrezl Harrell Los Angeles Lakers PF/C
If you didn't learn anything from the ghost of fantasy past, let the ghosts of fantasy present enlighten you. Start with Montrezl Harrell, the reigning NBA Sixth Man of the Year, from his 2019-2020 performance. Last year with the Clippers, Harrell averaged 18.6 points and 7.1 rebounds per game as the top option off the bench.
Montrezl Harrell using all of his 7"4 wingspan! https://t.co/ntXx2fOTeX— 🏀 (@🏀) 1608180758.0
Still in L.A. but now sporting purple and gold, Harrell finds himself in an even better situation than he was last year. The Lakers shed both Dwight Howard and JaVale McGee, opening up more opportunity for minutes for Trez. The Lakers brought in veteran big man Marc Gasol, but Harrell will likely see minutes at center, power forward, and small forward this season. Frank Vogel likes to play around with lineups, and Harrell provides the kind of versatility that his new coach likes.
Harrell has already proven he can do a lot with a little, and now in a slightly better situation playing for the defending champs, we expect big things from Harrell this year. Certainly a lot better than his late round projections in most fantasy drafts. Consistency is king, and that's what Trez will bring.
Clint Capela Atlanta Hawks C
Capela is another player we like because of the consistency that he can provide. Last year he was limited to just 39 games played due to injury, but during that time he averaged 13.9 points, 13.8 rebounds, and 1.8 blocks per game. That's near elite production at the center position. Sure you would like more scoring, but in today's NBA any center that can get those numbers night in and night out is valuable.
Hold on... Clint Capela must’ve bought some VC during the offseason. When did he unlock these moves? 👀🔥 https://t.co/PljsjfmlDg— Da Kid Gowie (@Da Kid Gowie) 1607900273.0
Also take into consideration Capela benefits from having Trae Young absorbing most of the opposing defense's attention throughout the game which allows Capela space to work in the paint. We may see the Young to Capela lob become the new CP3 to Blake Griffin ally-oop combo everybody tunes into to see.
Capela would have finished eighth in blocks and second in rebounds if he played enough games to qualify last year, and Atlanta should be a better team this year. There will be a handful of centers taken before Capela, but if you can grab him in the mid rounds, then it will allow you to stock up on guards and elite shooters early in your draft.
Ghosts of Fantasy Future
Isaac Okoro Cleveland Cavaliers SF
So far the ghosts of fantasy basketball have tried to teach you about remembering the past and the importance of consistent performance. Let the ghosts of fantasy future give you some hope in the late rounds of your draft in case you are feeling a little hum-buggy about how your draft develops.
There may not be a hotter rookie in the preseason right now than Cleveland's Isaac Okoro. Let's start by tempering your expectations, though, as he will not likely be starting in the preseason, as the team is resting some starters, including Kevin Porter Jr. The good news, however, is that we've seen Okoro do it all so far. He can score with confidence, hit shots from the perimeter, and has shown good vision for a raw rookie.
Hold on... Clint Capela must’ve bought some VC during the offseason. When did he unlock these moves? 👀🔥 https://t.co/PljsjfmlDg— Da Kid Gowie (@Da Kid Gowie) 1607900273.0
The Cavs have a bevy of young talent to sort through, including Collin Sexton, Darius Garland, and the aforementioned Kevin Porter Jr, but nobody's spot is guaranteed. It may behoove the Cavs to put Okoro into the mix early since he's riding a hot streak, and if he succeeds, then he could keep his spot for the season. A late round flyer on Okoro could be a move that puts you over the top in 2021, and who doesn't need a win after this year?
James Wiseman Golden State Warriors C
One thing we know is that the future is not guaranteed. One of the biggest fish in the NBA rookie pond was Wiseman. He lands in Golden State who has future hall of famer Steph Curry returning from injury. The Warriors should immediately get back in the playoff picture in the Western Conference after suffering through an uncharacteristic poor season under Steve Kerr.
James Wiseman showing off the range 👁 (via @warriors) https://t.co/Dt75Wh9GjL— Def Pen Hoops (@Def Pen Hoops) 1607719671.0
Curry and Klay Thompson were sorely missed last year, and the Warriors will again be without Thompson who sustained another injury and will miss the entire season for the second consecutive year. The Warriors traded for Kelly Oubre Jr and will hope for improvement out of Andrew Wiggins.
Coming back to Wiseman, we have never seen a Warrior team under the Kerr-Curry regime operate with a big man of Wiseman's pedigree. We had a glimpse of what the offense could look like with a legit scorer in the middle during the short era of Demarcus Cousins, but he was recovering from injury and never looked 100%. Wiseman is fresh and he oozes talent the way Razor Ramon oozed machismo in the mid 90s.

The inside-outside threat should not only help Steph Curry find space to spot up, but it will bring a new element of a dangerous pick and roll game between the two. Wiseman will probably be the first rookie selected in your fantasy draft, but it won't be until all the teams in your league have their starter.
Once you see the last team fill that position, if you want Wiseman, don't wait. Smash the "Draft Player" button quickly, as he won't last much longer. After seeing the success that DeAndre Ayton has had in Phoenix early in his career, don't be surprised if Wiseman is the next in line to burst onto the NBA and fantasy scene this year.
The NBA offseason is off to a sizzling start, and we're only three days into it.
With the shortened offseason the NBA Draft is tonight, and free agency begins Friday. But the biggest move has yet to be made, and it could happen at any moment.
James Harden has openly requested a trade from Houston, and per reports, he wants to play in Brooklyn with his former teammate Kevin Durant and point guard Kyrie Irving. Harden's backcourt partner Russell Westbrook wants out, too.

Any trade offer coming from the Nets would, at the very least, include Caris LeVert, Spencer Dinwiddie, and a slew of picks. It's not that easy, though.
ESPN is now reporting that Houston is feeling no pressure in moving its superstars, but that doesn't mean they've stopped fielding calls for The Beard.
So, what if I told you the Sixers can offer a better deal for Harden than the Nets?
Former Rockets general manager Daryl Morey is running the show in Philly now, and he's looking to reunite with his All-NBA shooting guard. And if you're current Rockets GM Rafael Stone, you want to get the best possible return for your franchise, regardless of where you send Harden. That's also why you don't want to rush this process, because you're in the driver's seat. Not Harden and not any of the teams desperate to acquire the 2017-18 MVP.
Moreover, seeing the return the Thunder got in the Chris Paul trade from the Pelicans in the Jrue Holiday package only increases the absurd return Houston can get for a top-10 player.
What Can Philly trade for The Beard?
The Sixers have two of the top 20 players in the NBA in Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. Embiid is one of the best two-way players in the game, coming off a 2019-20 campaign in which he averaged 23 points, 11.6 rebounds and 1.3 blocks a contest. He's also a two-time All-Defensive selection.
Simmons is fresh off his first All-Defensive team selection and logged 16.4 points, 7.8 rebounds and eight assists per game. He's only 24 and Embiid is just 26. But only one can remain in a pursuit of Harden, and if I'm Daryl Morey, I volunteer Simmons as tribute.
Pairing an elite scorer like Harden with Embiid AND Simmons would be a dream come true for Philly. But that's the catch — it's just a dream.
If Philadelphia is able to somehow turn it into reality though, the Harden + Embiid combo has the makings of a top-notch duo — one that can compete with KD and Kyrie in Brooklyn, Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown in Boston, and the new look Bucks in Milwaukee.
For the Rockets, an exchange in which they get Simmons back is a major win that could fast-forward a rebuild, assuming they move Westbrook, too.
In order to make this trade work, however, the Sixers need to dump one of the horrific contracts they have.
Backup center Al Horford is set to make $27 million annually over each of the next three seasons, and forward Tobis Harris will earn $33 million, $36 million, $38 million and $41 million over the next four seasons. YIKES.
There's no way in hell Houston asks for Harris in the deal, but Horford's contract is feasible, and it would give the team a starting center, like, a real one.
Here's my proposal:
The trade machine doesn't allow this deal to be processed because Robert Covington is still on Houston's roster (he's being traded to Portland). But in this move, the Rockets get a two-way All-Star in Simmons, a couple of young guards with plenty of potential, and to seal the deal: draft picks.
Philly has five picks in the 2020 draft alone, followed by a 2021 second-rounder and a 2023 second-rounder which will be the most favorable one of three teams': Atlanta, Charlotte and Brooklyn.
The Nets, in addition to LeVert and Dinwiddie, have two picks in Wednesday's draft and four second-round picks in 2021. So it all comes down to what each team is willing to offer, how desperate they are and most importantly, if the Rockets like the return.
In this case, if the Sixers are comfortable and willing to dispatch from Simmons, their 2016 No. 1 overall pick, Houston should seriously consider pulling the trigger. We'll see if Stone and company are feeling frisky ahead of the draft.
As Ferris Bueller might say: The world of sports moves pretty fast; if you don't stop and look around at least once a week, you could miss it.

Golf
The 84th Masters Tournament saw history made this past weekend, as Dustin Johnson turned in a record setting performance at Augusta finishing at 20 under par in 72 holes. The World No. 1 continued his hot run of play in this major and added his first green jacket and second major victory of his career.

Tiger Woods looked primed to defend his title after the first two rounds, limiting mistakes and playing with the careful consideration for every shot he's been known for throughout his career. He stumbled on day three, though, and only managed to shoot par which allowed Johnson to put pressure on Woods and the rest of the field heading into day four.
Woods took a 10 on the 12th hole on Sunday which knocked him out of contention, but then followed up with five birdies over the next six holes, which saved his round allowing him to finish with a four over 76. Tiger finished tied for 38th place at -1.

Cameron Smith and Sungjae Im finished tied for second at -15. Justin Thomas took fourth place at -12. Rory McIlroy and Dylan Frittelli were tied at -11 to round out the top five.
MLB
The 2020 Major League Baseball awards have been handed out to spotlight this year's winners:
AL MVP
The American League’s best in 2020. José Abreu is the AL MVP. 👏 https://t.co/eWMVJpr74T— MLB (@MLB) 1605223338.0
Abreu led the AL in RBI (60), finished second in HRs (19), and fourth in BA (.317). He helped a young White Sox team to the playoffs for the first time in 12 years. Providing a steady bat in the middle of an explosive lineup, Abreu benefitted from having protection around him for the first time in his career. A former Rookie of the Year, Abreu now sits atop the American League as its most valuable player.
NL MVP
Freddie Freeman Atlanta Braves
#MVFree indeed. @FreddieFreeman5 is your 2020 NL MVP. 👏 https://t.co/FUBGRHnvy3— MLB (@MLB) 1605225131.0
Freeman put together an impressive campaign in the truncated season, finishing second in the MLB in OPS (1.102) and led the MLB in runs (51). Freeman also finished second in the NL in batting average (.341), on base percentage (.462), and slugging percentage (.640).
Although the Braves fell short of the World Series, Freeman's achievement, like Abreu's, represents a veteran leader helping the development of a talented young team around him. Expect a step forward for the Braves next year behind the reigning NL MVP.
AL Cy Young
Shane Bieber Cleveland Indians
UNANIMOUS! Congrats to 2020 Cy Young Award winner Shane Bieber! 🏆 https://t.co/vOLku4Os3F— FOX Sports Cleveland (@FOX Sports Cleveland) 1605137196.0
For the first time since 2011, the AL Cy Young was awarded unanimously. Bieber had a historic season setting a league record for strikeout rate (41.1%) and recorded the lowest qualifying ERA (1.63) since 1969. Opposing batters averaged a paltry .167 against Bieber in 2020, which is also the best opposing BA since 1969. Considering the Indians are not in the business of keeping its talent once their payday comes due, enjoy him while you can Cleveland. Yankees, you're on the clock.
NL Cy Young
Trevor Bauer Cincinnati Reds
Name a better way to celebrate. You can’t. @budweiserusa https://t.co/9WxTXPC7C5— Trevor Bauer (@Trevor Bauer) 1605295731.0
Speaking of the Indians not retaining talent, the NL Cy Young winner is former Cleveland Indian, Trevor Bauer. Imagine if Cleveland was able to send out Bieber and Bauer on back to back nights this season with Bauer bringing his 1.73 ERA, 0.79 WHIP, and 12.3 strikeouts per nine innings. We can only speculate what the results would've been, but Bauer led a good pitching group in Cincinnati and brought them to the playoffs. Often outspoken, rarely outdueled.
AL Rookie of the Year
Kyle Lewis Seattle Mariners
Lewis burst onto the national scene with his five tool skills. He can hit home runs as well as rob them and is reminiscent of another transcendent talent that used to roam the outfields of Seattle.

NL Rookie of the Year
Devin Williams Milwaukee Brewers
Williams became the first reliever to win the ROY award since Craig Kimbrel in 2011. Williams posted a 0.33 ERA and struck out 53% of the batters he faced this season.
AL Manager of the Year
Kevin Cash Tampa Bay Rays
It was a foregone conclusion that the Yankees would win the AL East this year, but the Rays came out of nowhere with a bunch of unknown players to take the division convincingly. Cash's trademark is player usage and tinkering with lineups. The mind of Kevin Cash is a big reason the Rays got to the World Series, but his decision to replace Blake Snell in Game 6 might have cost them a shot at a Game 7 against the Dodgers. Still, the Rays have a bevy of young talent under cost controlled contracts and they should continue to compete for the AL pennant for the foreseeable future.
NL Manager of the Year
Don Mattingly Miami Marlins
Mattingly became the fifth person to win both an MVP award and Manager of the Year award after leading the Marlins to the postseason in 2020. It was their first appearance in 17 years in what was supposed to be a transition year as they look to rebuild. Mattingly certainly got the most from his players and may be the kind of presence to make Miami a free agent destination if ownership is willing to spend.

NBA
Now that the league has set December 22 as the start date for the 2020-2021 season the offseason, which historically provides plenty of rumors and player movement, has been dramatically shortened. That will likely mean less transactions preseason, but may set us up for an exciting trade deadline.
That doesn't mean there aren't some interesting rumors floating around, however. A deal appears to be in place to send Dennis Schroder to the Lakers in exchange for Danny Green and the Lakers' 28th overall pick in the upcoming draft. This would provide the newly minted NBA Champions a versatile scoring guard that can play both on and off the ball. Schroder will be coming from Oklahoma City, where he played with Chris Paul and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander who are both ball handlers.

Having to share ball handling duties with LeBron shouldn't affect Schroder's effectiveness, and the playmaking LA will be losing in Rajon Rondo will likely be made up for by a veteran free agent signing later in the offseason.
The biggest trade rumor going around NBA Twitter right now involves the future of James Harden. Now that Mike D'Antoni and Daryl Morey have parted ways with the Rockets, Houston has a problem. It was just a year ago that the Rockets were thought to have the team and the plan to win an NBA title. Now they're looking for a new identity.

Harden's preferred landing spot has emerged, and it's in Brooklyn. That would reunite him with former teammate Kevin Durant and form a backcourt of Harden and Kyrie Irving. Brooklyn would likely have to send DeAndre Jordan and some players to match contracts up along with a slew of draft picks, but just the thought of this super team is making December 22 feel too far away.
NFL Quick Bites
Lamar Jackson and the Ravens fall on Sunday night to the Patriots. Baltimore falls to 6-3 and gives up some ground to Cleveland in the AFC North.
On Thursday night, the Colts dominated the Titans in an important division matchup. With the win the Colts draw even with the Tennessee at 6-3. The Titans have lost three of their last four games.
The Buccaneers get back on track with a 46-23 win over Carolina. Tom Brady made good use of his receivers in this one. Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, and Antonio Brown all had at least six receptions in this game.
Tua Tagovailoa and the Dolphins keep rolling with their fifth win in a row. They beat the Chargers 29-21 and are now 6-3.
Kyler Murray and DeAndre Hopkins connected on a last second Hail Mary to beat the Bills 32-30. A contender for play of the year, and a competitive game that may have been a Super Bowl preview.
Drew Brees left the game against the 49ers with a rib injury. His status for Week 11 is uncertain. If he's unable to go Jameis Winston will be under center for the Saints.
