NBA Best Bets: Wednesday, Feb. 16
Feb 16 | 2022
NBA fans will be treated to a jam-packed 11-game slate tonight.
This includes a battle for NYC between the Nets and the Knicks at Madison Square Garden, and a Western Conference duel between the Nuggets and the Warriors.
Best Bets of the Night
Game 1: Brooklyn Nets at New York Knicks
It is crucial to remember how under-staffed and discombobulated the Nets are ahead of tonight’s battle of the boroughs. Kyrie Irving, Kevin Durant, and Ben Simons are not available for Brooklyn. Although the Nets beat the Kings and snapped their 11-game losing streak, the team was fully reliant on its bench. Seth Curry and Andre Drummond had great debuts at the Barclays Center and will need to play similarly if the Nets hope to win tonight against the Knicks at the Garden. Although the Knicks are struggling to win games consistently and continue to slide out of playoff contention, Julius Randle has been much more efficient in February. The Knicks have lost six of their last seven games, including a heartbreaking overtime defeat to the Oklahoma City Thunder at home on Monday. I think the Knicks will bounce back and beat the star-less Nets by at least five points tonight in a bounce-back game at MSG.
Bet: New York Knicks -4.5 (-108)
Game 2: Sacramento Kings at Chicago Bulls
I do not think that the Kings will score 100+ points against the Bulls on the road. Although the Kings are the second-worst defensive team in the NBA while Chicago is ranked 20th, 232.5 combined points would require an average of at least 116 points from each team. This seems improbable, especially taking into consideration the injury status of Chicago at the moment. Zach LaVine will not be back before the end of the All-Star break while Alex Caruso and Lonzo Ball remain out indefinitely. The Kings are still breaking into their new rotation which features Donte DiVincenzo, Domantas Sabonis, and Justin Holiday. Sacramento was held to just 85 points scoring in their loss to Brooklyn on Monday night. Going into tonight’s game, it seems more likely than not that both teams combine for less than 233 points of offense tonight.
Bet: Under 232.5 Points (-110)
Game 3: San Antonio Spurs at Oklahoma City Thunder
Although OKC is still without Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, other players are making up for his absence. For instance, Tre Mann erupted for 30 points in 32 minutes against the Knicks on Monday night in an overtime win. Likewise, Luguentz Dort has upped his production for the Thunder and scored at least 15 points in each of his last eight games. While the Spurs have the edge tonight, OKC is playing home and has played reasonably well without SGA. They’ve been able to win their last two overtime games; first against the Warriors then against the Knicks. Both of those games were without SGA. This sheds light on the team’s resilience without their best player. For +260 odds, I’ll roll the dice on OKC at home tonight.

Leg 1: Anthony Davis Over 9.5 Rebounds
Especially while LeBron James is out, Anthony Davis has stepped in and played big minutes. Over his last ten games, he’s averaged 10.1 rebounds in 36.2 MPG. Over his last three games, however, he’s recorded nine, seven, and seven rebounds in each contest respectively. In the three before that, Davis recorded at least 15 rebounds in back-to-back games on Feb. 3 and Feb. 5. Not much needs to be said about Davis’ abilities as a rebounder. Tonight he only needs 10 rebounds, and he’ll have a good chance to do that as the only efficient big who will be on the floor for the Lakers tonight.
Leg 2: Mike Conley Over 12.5 Points
Mike Conley has averaged 13.9 PPG over his last 10 games. This season, he is shooting 44.2% from the field, 41.4% from beyond the arc, and 83.5% from the free-throw line in 28.3 MPG. He is coming off of two back-to-back single-digit scoring nights. Before that he scored at least 13 points in six consecutive contests. He’s very involved on the floor whether it is by scoring points or assisting his teammates. Conley has a good chance to bounce back for 13+ points against the Lakers tonight.
Leg 3: Rudy Gobert Over 12.5 Points
Think about it this way, Gobert needs to make five layups or dunks and three free throws tonight to hit at least 13 points and cover the over for this SGP prop tonight. Gobert is averaging 15.9 PPG this season and scored 14 points in 22 minutes Monday night. He is coming back from injury and faced somewhat of a minutes restriction in his first game back in the lineup. While he might play less than 30 minutes, he definitely should play more than 25 minutes in his second game back. His wingspan and height will allow him to be a challenging player for AD to defend tonight.
