NFL DFS Preview: Week 3
Sep 24 | 2020
Each Thursday, FindBet will preview the week’s DFS slate, highlighting players that are priced well on FanDuel, as well as some contrarian plays that can push your team to the top of the leader board.
Most NFL FanDuel games have you putting a team together with players from a certain slate of games. It could be just Sunday 1:00 PM games or it could be every game that is slated for the week. Once the last game that has eligible players is over, the final payouts are made according to how many fantasy points each team scored. Each player is worth a certain dollar amount, and you have a cap of $60,000 to build your team with. You have to have 1 QB, 2 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1 FLEX (RB, WR, or TE) and 1 DEF.
The general scoring rules include (6) points for each rushing and receiving touchdown, (4) points for each passing touchdown, (0.1) points for each rushing and receiving yard gained, (0.04) points for each passing yard, and also (0.5) points for each reception. There are other scoring opportunities for defenses. You can see the entire breakdown on FanDuel. Let’s dive into players we like and players we advise to avoid in Week 3.
Players to Target:
Kyler Murray (QB) – $8400
Murray has been electric to start the season. This week he gets the Lions defense who gave up 25+ points in consecutive weeks. Murray has also had at least 1 rushing TD each week which adds a ton of value
Carson Wentz (QB) – $7600
Wentz has had a rough start to 2020, but a match up against the Bengals could be spark to get the Eagles back on track. He’s priced well this week.
Austin Ekeler (RB) – $7500
Ekeler is primed to finally take off this week against a 32nd rank run defense in Carolina. With Herbert starting again at QB, the rushing lanes should be opened up more than in past weeks.

Jonathan Taylor (RB) – $6700
Taylor took over as the bell-cow for the Colts last week and he has another great match up this week against the hapless Jets.
Keenan Allen (WR) – $7100
Allen gets a major boost going against a depleted Panthers defense this week. He also gets a bump in value with Herbert getting another start for the Chargers.
Diontae Johnson (WR) – $6300
Johnson has become one of the go-to WRs for Ben Roethlisberger early in the year. He should have the volume this week to finish as a top 25 WR against the win-less Texans.
Tyler Higbee (TE) – $6100
Higbee had 3 recieving touchdown last week and gets a Bills defense this week that was torched by Mike Gesicki in Week 2. He is a solid play this week.

Mike Gesicki (TE) – $5500
Gesicki gets another shot on TNF at a very beatable defense in Jacksonville. He’s been a go to target for Ryan Fitzpatrick this year.
Indianapolis Colts (DEF) – $4800
The Colts get the Jets who are down their starting RB and 3 of their starting WRs. This is a no brainer.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (DEF) – $3800
The Bucs are going against a backup QB in Jeff Driskel and also an offense that will be without Philip Lindsay and Courtland Sutton.
Players to Avoid:
Drew Brees (QB) – $8000
Brees has looked like Father Time has caught up to him. Without Michael Thomas again this week, he’s not worth that price.
Saints film room: Examination of Drew Brees’ misses reveals multiple issues on offense contributing to struggles in… https://t.co/J8hVdMjCxH— Nick Underhill (@Nick Underhill) 1600968418.0
Deshaun Watson (QB) – $8000
Watson gets the Steelers this week. He’s struggled to score points his first two weeks in the year and it will be tough sledding against a great defense this week.
Dalvin Cook (RB) – $8600
Cook has been serviceable this year, but the Vikings pass offense has regressed big time. That allows defenses to stack the box against Cook.
David Johnson (RB) – $6900
Johnson was quickly abandoned by Bill O’Brien last week once the Texans were behind. I see a similar situation happening this week as well.
Davante Adams (WR) – $8600
Adams is holding out hope he’ll be able to play Sunday night, but with few options to sub in and out, he’s not worth the risk.
Adam Thielen (WR) – $7200
Thielen struggled against a mediocre Colts defense in week 2. Teams will continue to take him away without a serviceable threat on the opposite side of the formation.
Darren Waller (TE) – $6600
Waller had a monster game against the Saints last Monday, but he gets a Patriots defense that is rarely unprepared this week.
Los Angeles Chargers (DEF) – $5000
The Chargers are the most expensive defense this week. The Panthers can score some garbage time points that will make them more of a fade for me this week.
Philadelphia Eagles (DEF) – $4500
The Eagles have not been able to stop anyone the first two weeks. Joe Burrow has been playing better than a rookie without any type of practice to this point.
